Look at the face before you read anything off it.

01Start on the highest range.Then move down only if the needle is too close to zero.
02Choose the lowest range that does not overload the meter.A larger needle movement is easier to read clearly.
03Check the selected range and scale.The range tells you what the marks on the scale mean.
04Count all small divisions from 0 to the end of the selected scale.Value of 1 division = selected range ÷ total divisions.
05Count divisions from zero to the needle, then multiply.Reading = divisions × value of 1 division.
06Read with your eye directly in front of the needle.On a mirror strip, line the needle up with its reflection first.
07Record the reading to the precision of one small division.Do not add digits the meter cannot show.
